The Solomon Island Pearl Harbour set is a commemorative set, minted by the Royal Mint in 1991. On 7 December 1941, a Japanese Carrier Aircraft launched a surprise attack at a United States Military Base in Pearl Harbour, Hawaii. Thus precipitating the United States involvement in World War II.
To mark the 50th anniversary of this event, the Central Bank of Solomon authorized the Royal Mint to strike a limited amount of four-coin gold proof sets. This set contains 4 coins in 1 oz, ½ oz, ¼ oz and 1/10 oz. These coins are minted in .999 purity and there are only 500 sets available.
