    Any personal information processed by in connection with this Privacy Policy is controlled by The Scoin Shop which is considered the "controller" or "responsible party" of your personal information under European Union and South African data protection law, respectively.

    We are committed to implementing leading data security safeguards and we take great care to protect the personal information you provide to us.

    We have specialised security personnel who constantly review and improve our measures to protect your personal information from unauthorised access, accidental loss, disclosure or destruction.

    There is an Internet fraud practice known as "phishing" which is the illegal gathering of personal information by deception. Unsolicited emails are sent to individuals from lists illegally gathered by a third party, and recipients are asked to enter or reconfirm bank or password details into a "cloned" or illegal copy of the website or applications.

    We will only ask you for your bank or credit card details help process a purchase and will never ask you for your password or PIN. Make sure you are dealing with ‘The Scoin Shop’ when you are asked for your bank or credit card details for purchase purposes and never share your password or PIN with anyone, including us.

    What have we done to protect you against Phishing?

    1. has implemented DMARC with a reject policy for unauthorised senders using our address as the “from” address in emails which will result in email service providers blocking their mail or pushing it into the spam folder. 
    2. Our website is encrypted with 128 bit Secure Socket Layers (SSL) to ensure our customers are safe when visiting and transacting with us.

    As a result of the above measures implemented, customers can protect themselves by:

    1. Looking for the lock icon in the url bar and clicking it to verify the site SSL certificate and checking that domain is exactly written out as “”.
    2. Checking that any emails from us have the “from address” as exactly written out as “” or “”

  7. When do we collect Personal Information about you?

    We collect personal information about you whenever you use our products and services (whether these products or services are provided by us or by other companies or agents acting on our behalf), including when you use our Website or mobile applications; interact with us through email or phone.

    We may also collect information about you from other companies within our group, or third parties, if this is appropriate and allowed by law. These include fraud-prevention agencies, business directories, credit reference agencies and business partners.

    Under the Financial Intelligence Centre Act (38 of 2001) (“FICA”), we (The Seller) are required to obtain certain information relating to the Buyer in regard to cash transactions over the FICA determined threshold. The Buyer is to please note that no coins will be given to the Buyer and no cash will be accepted from the Buyer by us (the Seller) until such time as the Buyer has complied with the necessary FICA compliances.

    We use the Order Information that we collect generally to fulfil any orders placed through the Site (including processing your payment information, arranging for shipping, and providing you with invoices and/or order confirmations).

  14. When will we send you Direct Marketing?

    We will not use your personal information for electronic direct marketing purposes unless we are permitted to do so by law. With your consent, we may sometimes send direct marketing communications that include a business partners' products and services related our product offering or promotional campaign.

    We will only allow third parties or other members of our group to send direct marketing communications to you when you have agreed to receive marketing from third parties, e.g. SafeGold or Gold for Life.
