25 Years Young

Founded over five decades ago, the SAGCE is South Africa’s largest distributor and importer of rare and collectible coins. We have built an unrivaled reputation as a central brokerage for bullion and numismatics, recognized by coin enthusiasts and numismatists worldwide.

 

In 1999, the SAGCE launched The Scoin Shop with a mission to democratize gold and coin ownership, opening its first store in Sandton City, one of South Africa's most prestigious shopping malls. Over the next 20 years, our footprint expanded to include 35 stores across South Africa and internationally in the UK.

 

Today, The Scoin Shop remains the world’s only retail chain of coin stores, celebrated for its specialty in Krugerrands, modern collectables, and rare numismatics. We’ve been honored with over 100 awards, including recognition as a finalist in the International Mapic Specialty Retailer of the Year competition in 2012.
