The Kookaburra bird is one of the largest kingfishers. It is well-known for being an Australian bird but they can also be found in New Guinea.
The Kookaburra bird has a distinctly unique, raucous call which is what these birds are famous for. Their call sounds like laughter. When a group of Kookaburras are together, they often ‘laugh’ together loudly at dusk and at dawn.
The reverse of this coin depicts an Australian kookaburra perched on a tree branch, with gum leaves and seed pods. Designed by designer Aleysha Howarth, where the initials AH can be found on the branch to the left of the bird. In the rim to the right is the Perth Mint’s traditional P mint mark. Around the coin at the top is the name of the coin series: “AUSTRALIAN KOOKABURRA.” While around below is that date of issue and the precious metal content “2021 5 oz 9999 SILVER” - five troy ounces of 99.99% silver.
This is a beautiful addition to any collector’s collection.
