The Kookaburra bird is one of the largest kingfishers. It is well-known in Australia and has a famous call that sounds like raucous laughter. This new silver addition forms part of the Australian Kookaburra coin series. The Perth Mint has been minting coins featuring the kookaburra for over 30 years and is excited to release this silver 5oz beauty. The reverse of the coin shows the designer’s initials AH on the branch to the left of the bird. In the rim to the right is the Perth Mint’s traditional P mintmark. Around the coin at the top is the name of the coin series: “AUSTRALIAN KOOKABURRA.” While below is that date of issue and the precious metal content “2021 5oz 9999 SILVER” - five troy ounces of 99.99% silver.
