Celebrating Mandela Month with The Gallery of Giving

This July, The Scoin Shop presents The Gallery of Giving—a Mandela Month tribute blending art, community, and compassion. Explore handcrafted blankets and Mandela-inspired pieces at Menlyn Maine Central Square.

At The Scoin Shop, we believe in the power of legacy—whether it’s through the timeless value of precious metals or the enduring impact of Nelson Mandela’s vision. This July, we’re thrilled to partner with Menlyn Maine Central Square, 67 Blankets for Nelson Mandela Day, and Embassy Direct to launch the Gallery of Giving, a celebration of Mandela Month that combines generosity, art, and community spirit into one inspiring experience.

Mandela Day on July 18th is a global call to action, encouraging us to reflect on Nelson Mandela’s values of compassion, unity, and service. But in South Africa, we don’t stop at one day—July is Mandela Month, a time to live Madiba’s principles through meaningful acts of giving. The Gallery of Giving, hosted at Menlyn Maine’s vibrant Central Square in Pretoria, brings this spirit to life with a stunning exhibition that’s open to the public from July 4th to July 31st, 2025.

The Gallery of Giving is a unique showcase that blends creativity and craft. Visitors will be captivated by:

  • Handcrafted Masterpieces: Exclusive blankets created by the dedicated volunteers of 67 Blankets for Nelson Mandela Day.
  • Mandela-Inspired Art: Over thirty pieces from our collection celebrating Madiba’s life through vibrant, thought-provoking artwork.

As Rael Demby, CEO of The Scoin Shop, puts it,

“The Gallery of Giving is a perfect reflection of our long-standing partnership with 67 Blankets, which began in 2014 when founder Carolyn Steyn invited us to join this incredible movement. Over the years, we’ve been proud to support their mission to spread warmth and hope.”

At The Scoin Shop, we’re more than just a destination for coins and precious metals—we’re a part of the community. Supporting The Gallery of Giving aligns with our commitment to making a difference, just as Mandela did. This exhibition isn’t just about admiring beautiful blankets and art; it’s a reminder to act, to give, and to connect. As Carolyn Steyn, Philanthropist and Founder of 67 Blankets, said, “Twinning blankets with this collection of Mandela-themed fine art creates a wonderful gallery experience for the public to enjoy—and serves as a reminder to engage in meaningful good-wool.

We invite you to visit the Gallery of Giving at Menlyn Maine Central Square. Whether you’re a collector, an art enthusiast, or simply someone who wants to make a difference, there’s something for everyone. The exhibition is free to explore, and every visit supports the spirit of Mandela Month.
